Behind TheCareerWheels: A Journey Towards Career Clarity

My own career journey has taught me an important lesson: progression is not always the same as direction.

I completed my schooling in Kolkata at a reputed institution and went on to study engineering at a recognised government institution. I subsequently entered the professional world, including a stint in a Central Government organisation. Although my career progressed through several important milestones, I gradually realised that I was not entirely satisfied with the direction my professional life was taking. I eventually returned to academics to pursue my master's degree at a reputed institution.

Over approximately 12 years in employment, many of my decisions followed what seemed like a natural progression. Yet, looking back, I realise that my journey was not always guided by a clear understanding of my strengths, interests, motivations or long-term aspirations.

Those were different times. Access to career information was limited, awareness of emerging career opportunities was not as widespread, and many parents had fewer resources to help their children make informed career decisions. Like many others, I moved forward with the knowledge and opportunities available to me at the time.

For the past 14 years, I have been an entrepreneur. This experience has broadened my perspective on learning, decision-making, personal growth and the importance of understanding what makes each individual different.

It has also led me to reflect on a question:
What might have been different if I had understood myself better and received the right guidance at the right time?

What if I had access to a structured psychometric assessment to help me understand my profile? What if I had a practical execution roadmap to translate insights into action, along with a portfolio-building plan to demonstrate my skills, experiences and achievements?

I cannot change the decisions I made in the past, but I can use what I have learnt to help others approach their futures with greater clarity.

That is the inspiration behind TheCareerWheels.

My vision is to build a career and education guidance platform that evolves with the changing world of work and learning. A platform where students, parents, graduates and working professionals can explore their strengths, understand their options and make decisions that are better aligned with their individual circumstances and aspirations.

I want to go beyond simply suggesting a career or course. My aim is to help individuals move from understanding themselves to exploring possibilities, making informed choices and developing a practical plan for what comes next.

Every individual has a different starting point, different strengths and a different definition of success. I believe career guidance should recognise those differences rather than offer the same direction to everyone.

Through TheCareerWheels, I hope to become a mentor and coach who helps people navigate their career journeys with greater understanding, purposeful planning and confidence in their next steps.

Because a career should be more than a series of milestones. It should be a journey shaped by informed choices.
